This project was completed in collaboration with Monica Roesner as part of a class focused on Design for Good. Fledgling was created to help solve the problem of abuse, neglect, and misinformed choices when it comes to pet exotic birds. We felt the best way to fix this problem was through the preemptive education of potential bird owners, so they feel better prepared to bring a new feathered friend into their home. The system is fun and engaging while still tackling heavier issues like the care of your bird and the consequences of mistreatment. Fledgling’s system is extensive, including a website, book, cards, and shirts.

This project was also done in conjunction with the Burge Bird Rescue run by Dr. Julie Burge in Grandview, Missouri. Her help and input was crucial to the creation of Fledgling.
